Hot on the heels of May's Sony Radio Academy Award for best community programme for Face to Face, Victim Support's partnership with the Prison Radio Association has borne fruit again with the news that the project has now won a prestigious Third Sector Excellence Award.
The winners were announced at a ceremony in London on Thursday 27 September. Commenting on the award, Victim Supports Chief Executive Javed Khan said: "We were delighted when Face to Face won a Sony Radio Academy Award. To now win a Third Sector award for the partnership behind this programme really is the icing on the cake. Most importantly of all, both these awards will help to raise awareness of the programme and the true impact and lasting effects of crime.
The hour long Face to Face programme focused on three victims of violent crime meeting three prisoners who had committed violent acts. It was recorded inside HMP Brixton and broadcast on National Prison Radio on Friday 23 March. This is part of a wider Victim Support initiative to work with partner criminal justice agencies, while highlighting the importance of restorative justice.
