Victim Support and Prison Radio Association nominated for Third Sector award

Victim Support’s partnership with the Prison Radio Association (PRA), which resulted in the radio programme ‘Face to Face’, has been shortlisted for a Third Sector Excellence Award, in the ‘charity partnership’ category.
Entries were shortlisted by a panel of judges for the eighth edition of the awards. The ceremony will take place on Thursday 27 September.
The hour long ‘Face to Face’ programme focused on three victims of violent crime meeting three prisoners who had committed violent acts. It was recorded inside HMP Brixton and broadcast on National Prison Radio on Friday 23 March. This is part of a wider Victim Support initiative to work with partner criminal justice agencies, while highlighting the importance of restorative justice.
Javed Khan, Chief Executive of Victim Support, said; “We are honoured to be nominated alongside the PRA for the Third Sector award for charity partnerships. The programme has already won Sony Radio’s Best Community Programme gong, so it’s a privilege for the partnership behind it to also be recognised.
“Many victims find that restorative justice helps the mental scars of crime to fade away and it is also a way for offenders to make amends. It is a subject worth talking about.”
